Evolution of a Charming Coastal Gem

Located on the northern tip of Isle of Palms, a lush barrier island off the coast of South Carolina, Wild Dunes Resort occupies 1,600 acres of oceanfront. Offering a year round menu of championship golf, nationally ranked tennis, award-winning recreation, spa services and restaurant options, Wild Dunes Resort has been lauded by many publications and associations as a top destination for families, golfers, tennis lovers and meeting and event planners. When Lowe acquired the Resort in 1990, it needed extensive redevelopment after the damage it suffered from Hurricane Hugo. Lowe rehabilitated both golf courses, the tennis facility, conference facility, clubhouse and restaurant. Lowe has continued to improve and expand the property. The development of the 93-room Boardwalk Inn in 1998 added a boutique hotel to Resort accommodation options. The addition of the Village at Wild Dunes in 2007 created a bridge between the Boardwalk Inn, the conference facility and the resort’s golf and tennis amenities. The Village provides new luxury ownership and guestroom options, a much needed spa and food and beverage upgrades to the resort. In 2008 Lowe joined the City of Isle of Palms in an extensive restoration project to replenish the naturally receding shoreline. Lowe worked with original designer Tom Fazio to restore the famed 18th hole of the Links Course after erosion washed away a portion of the original green. Most recently, The Boardwalk Inn has been updated with renovations to the lobby that invoke casual southern elegance with inviting community gathering spaces and a refresher of room décor with the bright airy feel of the oceanfront. An art program in partnership with a local gallery brings a rotating collection of regionally inspired works by local artists to the hotel lobby.
