Live, Work, Create, Innovate, Educate

Lowe Enterprises and I.D.E.A. Partners were selected by the San Diego Community College District to create a mixed-use development on a full city block in the vibrant Upper East Village of downtown San Diego. Lowe later formed a joint venture with LaSalle Investment Management to develop the property.

The urban mixed-use project includes creative office space, apartments, and live/work spaces designed to appeal to young urban professionals, with street level shops and restaurants that will attract residents, employees, and the local community. The interior spaces Рconsisting of an atrium and an open courtyard Рwill be active community gathering areas programmed with a variety of events and activities. Staying true to the architecture and atmosphere of the East Village community is a priority at IDEA1. The classical concrete building was designed to complement the surrounding properties, with a specially crafted illuminated building sign was created to look as though it has been in place for generations.

IDEA1 is designed to be the catalyst for the 95+acre I.D.E.A. District, Innovation+Design+Education+Arts, an innovative approach to creating a vibrant jobs cluster at the intersection of design and technology.

The highly successful, creative community was sold in 2022.
