Local officials, community representatives and city leaders joined the Lowe team to celebrate the groundbreaking of The Cooper, downtown Charleston’s new 225-room waterfront hotel. Overlooking the Cooper River, the hotel draws design inspiration from its French Quarter surroundings. In addition to 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space on Concord Street, The Cooper will also include a 7,000-square-foot full-service spa and fitness center, nearly 20,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event space, and an outdoor infinity-edge resort pool with views of
the harbor and the historic downtown skyline.
Lowe has been working with the City of Charleston to extend the Joe Riley Waterfront Park by more than 400 feet, starting at the park’s north entrance on Concord Street and ending at Cumberland Street. As part of the park extension,
Lowe will also be providing a new dock and marina facility which will allow for public day boat dockage and water taxi service.
