Model for Thoughtful Community Planning
Klahanie is one of Seattle’s most award-winning master planned communities. Lowe was first retained as an asset manager and later acquired the property. Lowe created and gained approval for a master plan that significantly increased the density. Lowe developed the 900-acre site for 3,200 housing units with 300 acres of open space and parks, community centers, 25 miles of trails, a school site and a neighborhood shopping center, Klahanie become a model for thoughtful community planning. As master developer, Lowe was responsible for planning, entitlement, builder sales, site development, community-wide marketing, and management of the homeowners association. Lowe sold groups of lots and residential parcels to five of the Seattle area’s top home builders. In addition, Lowe teamed with a local construction company to develop and sell 86 townhouse units on one of the last available parcels at Klahanie.
Klahanie was developed in phases over 25 years, achieving commercial success as a residential market leader for the region for that period.
